Cante Alentejano or Alentejo’s Bread

Cante Alentejano

We have resume this activity to a simple but amazing lunch, at one of the most traditional taverns of all Alentejo.
With a decoration that you might never seen before, keeping the style of the old traditional Alentejo tavern, we provide here not only and amazing journey of flavors trough the Alentejo cuisine, including and extraordinary amphora wine or “talha” wine produced at this place, as also the once in a life tine opportunity of witness the true Cante Alentejano in full freedom.

As any other wild animal, the Cante Alentejano not always appears when we wish. As it should be, arises spontaneously from the inspiration of the visitants of this tavern. We cannot promise that you can catch a glimpse of it’s beauty at it’s natural habitat, but we will promise you an unique meal and wine, at a peculiar place located in a lost simple village of Alentejo.

On the way we will visit Monsaraz, a beautiful medieval village.

Alentejo’s Bread

We have created this activity for who wants to learn and have fun with Alentejo’s gastronomy. Available every Saturday mornings, using the oldest knowledge and the most natural ways we can find in our days, we take our clients to literally get hands on the bread dough and make the true and only, traditional Alentejo’s bread.

After putting the bread in the wood oven, while we wait for it to cook, we will visit some sites in Évora surroundings, rarely visit by any tourist.

The bread will be tasted, during a typical Alentejo lunch, including of course, the most exquisite wines produced in the region.

The location where both the bread making and and the lunch will be held, is an old and full recovered wind mill. Without any promises, if the weather allows, there might be the possibility of getting the wind mill in motion and working.
